Tempist is a free metronome, tap tempo, and chromatic tuner for iPhone. It stays intentionally small, so we do not plan new features. Bug reports are always welcome.

To report a bug, email info@aerisnova.com. Include your iPhone model, the iOS version, and the Tempist version shown in the About sheet (the “i” button at the top right of every screen).

Known behavior

The metronome stops when the screen locks.

The metronome stops about one or two seconds after the screen locks. Keep the screen on while you practice. To keep it on longer, open Settings, then Display & Brightness, then Auto-Lock.

The silent switch does not mute the clicks.

The clicks play even when the silent switch is on. Use the volume buttons to make them quieter.

The metronome stopped after a phone call or an alarm.

After a phone call, a timer alarm, or switching to another app, tap Play once to start again. The tuner resumes on its own.

The clicks sound late in my Bluetooth headphones.

Bluetooth headphones add a small delay. The iPhone speaker or wired headphones give tighter timing.

The tuner reacts to the metronome.

The tuner listens through the microphone, so it can pick up the metronome clicks if both run at the same time. Stop the metronome while you tune.

The tuner does not hear anything.

Tempist needs microphone access for the tuner. If you did not allow it, open the iOS Settings app, tap Tempist, and turn on Microphone.
